GP Rating Course Courses & Colleges

GP Rating
GP rating course is approved by the DG of Shipping, Mumbai which falls under Govt. of India. GP Rating is a 6 months program. It was because of the constant request from the Shipping Industry; this course was designed in order to ensure the candidates passing the course would be able to offer enhanced & multiple utility of ratings, on board vessels housed by the shipping companies, throughout the world.

Role

The cadets undergoing GP rating course are made to go through a Pre Sea Training program, post which he or she join as a Rating in the shipping companies and serve as an Engine or Deck Crew. They participate in all seamanship activities on the deck as well as in the engine room.

Eligibility Criteria of the GP rating colleges:

Admission for General Purpose Rating ( GP ) - 6 months Course
ELIGIBILITY -> Candidates applying for the GP rating course should have PASSED 10th Standard
AGE LIMIT ->Candidates should be at least 17years 6 months on time of enrollment and should NOT be more than 25 years.
VISION -> Candidates should have NO Color Blindness, 6/6 Vision in each eye. No Eye Glasses are permitted.

After successfully clearing the training program from a reputed GP rating college, the cadet joins either as a Deck Crew or an Engine Crew. Now, you know all about the GP rating course.

After serving for few years in sea, they get promoted as Bosum on Deck or as an AB Seaman. If working on the engine side, they get promoted accordingly. After gaining 36 months of sea experience as Bosum or AB Seaman, he or she becomes eligible to write the second mate exam to get promoted as a Second Officer. After gaining 36 months of sea experience as Bosum or AB Seaman, he or she becomes eligible to write the second mate exam to get promoted as a Second Officer. With further sea experience and after clearing the exam, the second officer is promoted as a Captain

Career Growth
